People Helping People Reach for Hope and Recovery
Formed in November 2015, NAMI High Country Colorado is a grassroots nonprofit organization providing support, education, and advocacy on behalf of Summit and Lake county residents and their families who are affected by mental illness and substance abuse. In 2017, NAMI High Country Colorado became a grantee of The Summit Foundation.
We bring National Association for Mental Illness (NAMI) programs and services to our local community. Founded in 1979, NAMI is the largest grassroots mental health organization in the United States. It is dedicated to achieving equitable services and treatment, as well as building better lives, for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness and their families. Hundreds of thousands of NAMI-trained volunteers participate in more than 1,000 local affiliates nationwide to:
- Provide education and support for individuals living with mental illness and their family members
- Combat stigma
- Support increased funding for research
- Advocate for adequate health insurance, housing, rehabilitation, and jobs for persons living with mental illness
NAMI Colorado High Country peer support and resources in Summit and Lake counties help locals realize they are Not Alone and have Hope for Recovery!
